Marching Band
This group is the representative of our school that
receives the most exposure throughout the school year because it performs at
pep-rallies, football games, competitions, parades, and many other functions.
Marching Band members are expected to express a high level of school spirit,
discipline, dedication, hard work ethic, leadership, and musicianship. Membership in the
marching band is required of ALL students wishing to be part of the Magnet
Program at South Miami Senior High School, with the exception of oboe, bassoon,
and string players. Although oboe, bassoon and string players are not
required to participate in the marching band, they can choose to participate in
the front ensemble or color guard. The pit or front ensemble is a
stationary percussion ensemble which includes mallet instruments, bass drum,
snare, cymbals and other various percussion instruments.
